David G. Schulke *

David Schulke has served as Executive Vice President of the American Health Quality Association since September 1998, where his job is to promote partnerships with the national network of Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs). He has worked on health quality issues in Washington for over twenty years, including serving for over a decade as a professional staff member for both Republican and Democratic Members of Congress, principally in the U.S. Senate. He is responsible for many high profile investigations in the health care field, as well as numerous pieces of health care legislation that were enacted into law by the Congress. Prior to working for Congress, Mr. Schulke ran a community based organization that organized nursing home residents and their families, and recruited help from nursing assistants, to demand and win improvements in the quality of care provided in California nursing facilities. After leaving the Congress, Mr. Schulke joined the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the national professional society of pharmacists, where he was responsible for regulatory affairs and worked to develop alliances between the pharmacist profession, consumers, and manufacturers.
