Maria E. Suarez-Almazor, MD, PhD
Dr. Suarez-Almazor is the principal investigator of the Houston CERTs at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She holds the Barnts Family Distinguished Professorship, and is Deputy Chair (Research) of the Department of General Internal Medicine at this institution. Her interests are in health care decision-making by physicians and patients with chronic disease, in the determinants and outcomes of therapeutic adherence, and in developing effective strategies for risk communication. Dr. Suarez-Almazor has been awarded several federal grants to conduct research in these topics, and has over 160 peer-reviewed publications.
