What's NewAnnouncementPosted on 02.15.2002 CERTs Leaders to Advise FDA on Risk Management The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has tapped two CERTs leaders to serve on a new advisory subcommittee on Drug Safety and Risk Management (DsaRM). The 10-member panel includes nationally-recognized experts in the areas of risk perception, risk management, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacology, clinical research, and drug safety. Brian L. Strom, MD, MPH, director of the CERTs at the University of Pennsylvania, and William H. Campbell, PhD, director of the CERTs at the University of North Carolina, will serve on the panel. "This is a great opportunity to put our skills to practical use, giving the FDA advice on some of its most difficult, and interesting, questions of drug safety," Dr. Strom notes. Members of this subcommittee of the Pharmaceutical Science Advisory Committee met at the FDA for an orientation in January. At that time, they were introduced to the FDA and its processes, to the advisory committee system, and to FDA's newly reorganized Office of Pharmacoepidemiology and Statistical Science, and especially its Office of Drug Safety. The subcommittee's first public meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 2002. | ||
